Calvin Klein Fall Winter 2008: Back to minimalism

“If there is anything to say about Kevin Carrigan, the creative director of CK Calvin Klein and CK Jeans, it’s that he remains true to the master's spirit.”

The CK Calvin Klein Fall/Winter 2008 presentation which presented indigo denim, tweed pants and jackets, navy coats and performance wear, used a set inspired by the sculptures of minimalist artist Donald Judd.

The perfect backdrop for a back to basics collection had the Fashion Wire Daily reviewing the collection stating the emphasis given on proportions: "By playing with the proportion and scale of the presentation itself, Carrigan brought the notion of form in fashion to the forefront."

In the meantime the famous brand will soon celebrate an important anniversary. This year, the house of Calvin Klein will celebrate their 35th anniversary of their jeans, and in homage to the now legendary pair of jeans worn by a young and so inviting Brooke Shields, Carrigan has brought back the original tan stitching and "omega" pocket detailing on a polished pair of rinsed indigo flared jeans.

It remains unknown if the media attention towards the revival of a classic jeans design will stop the skinny jeans craze (which was started by Hedi Slimane while he was still at Dior Homme), but all bets are on.
